Horoya AC and Wydad Casablanca drew 0-0 in an Africa Champions League Group C match which was played at the General Lansana Conte Stadium, Conakry on Tuesday.
The home side was the better of the two teams and was constantly raiding the Wydad Casablanca goal creating several scoring chances.
Ocansey Mandela had a chance after 15 minutes, some good footwork on the left earning him space, but his intended cheeky chip over the keeper rolled over the bar.
Eight minutes later, the home side had another chance when Boniface Haba was set up by Bas Traore but his rasping shot from 25 yards out flew just inches over the bar.
Wydad Casablanca were good in build up but were not efficient in creating chances. They however created one in the 35thminute when Ayoub El Kaabi picked out Muaid Ellafi with a peach of a long range pass, but the latter’s shot hit the side netting.
The Moroccans grew in confidence as the half-time break approached with Walid El Karti working hard in midfield.
The attacking midfielder tested Horoya Moussa Camara twice with long-range shots which were easily saved.
The score was 0-0 following a first half which was dominated by Horoya.
In the second half, it was the Green Eagles who upped the tempo and on the hour mark came close to a goal but right back El Kaabi’s grasscutter from range was parried away by keeper Camara.
The introduction of Zouhair El Moutaraji was a positive injection to Wydad’s attack and the winger had two chances, first hitting the side netting from a shot on the right while his second effort was well collected by Camara.
Horoya looked to try their luck from range with the likes of Barry and Sylia missing the target with long-range shots.
Barry, who was having a good game for Horoya, forced Dari into a decent free-kick as the hosts looked to take a surprise lead.
The momentum was with Wydad as a poor mistake by Salif Coulibaly saw him gift the ball to El Kaabi, who drove through on goal and only had the former to beat, but the keeper made a good save.
Ultimately, the game ended in a 0-0 draw with Horoya and Wydad Casablanca sharing the spoils on the evening.
