Horoya AC overcame AS Port Togo 2-1 in the Total CAF Champions League Group C match at the Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry on Friday night.
As a result, Guinean giants Horoya moved to second place on the table, while Togo’s AS Port are at the bottom.
Horoya dominated the match from the start as they applied some pressure on The Dockers defence.
However, they suffered a blow in the sixth minute after dependable forward Alseny Camara sustained a knock and was replaced by Bolaji Sakin.
Ayeba Nayo had an early chance to put the visitors ahead after being sent through on goal but he fluffed his chance with only goalkeeper Khadim Ndiaye to beat in the tenth minute.
The more they got closer to scoring, the more they were left frustrated, with Kove being denied by the top of the crossbar.
Oncasey Mandela opened the scoring for Horoya minutes later with a beautiful strike following a great attacking move where Brefo Mensah forced Dockers defence to an error.
On the other side, Sangare Abubakar was denied an equalizer by Ndiaye as the first stanza ended with Horoya leading 1-0.
The visitors showed their intentions from the offset in the second half with a threat to Senegalese international’s goal from a corner, who was forced to make a one-handed save.
Kokou Gazozo made no mistake minutes later to go in front through the boot of Ablamvi Djadja, who needed three attempts to latch home for the visitors in the 51st minute.
Hakim Sama missed a sitter in the 55th minute after going through one-on-one with Dove Abotchi just moments after coming on for Lingani.
Nigerian forward Bolaji Sakin hit the winning goal for Horoya a minute before the hour mark.
AS Port Togo giants dominated after 80 minutes and created chances but their finishing let them down on numerous occasions.
The Dockers were desperate in the final minutes, but Horoya managed to hold on to claim and emerged 2-1 winners.
