Cameroon coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpilé has named his squad for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

Cameroon coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpilé has named his squad for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

The Indomitable Lions are in Group A where they will play against Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and Mali.

Youngsters Valentin Bato, Serge Andualo, Narcisse Nlend will all be making their first appearances at the African Nations Championship.

Former Boca Junior midfielder Christian Mayo was excluded from the squad after suffering a heart attack during a pre-CHAN match against Zambia and is likely to be forced to retire from football.

Mayo had terminated his contract with the Argentinean giants in 2018 due to heart problems and returned to his country. Believing he had recovered, he accepted the proposal to join Cameroonian top-flight outfit Bamboutos du Mbouda.

Players from PWD Bamenda were also included after they were previously allowed time out to feature in the African Champions League.

Cameroon will face Zimbabwe in the opening CHAN game on January 16 for a game that will start at 9:00 pm EAT.

The Indomitable Lions have been holding training at Omnisport Annex One Stadium in Yaounde for the past few days.
