South Africa football team head coach Hugo Broos has named a preliminary 29-member squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Guinea and former world champions France.
The Belgian coach is expected to lead the charges into two high profile friendlies against Syli Nationale on 25th March in Brussels before facing France four days later in Lille.
The encounter against Guinea will be Bafana’s first match since they lost 1-0 to Ghana in their final World Cup qualifier in November last year.
Broos, who has been in charge of the Southern African giants since May last year, has picked only four overseas based players – Fagrie Lakay, Percy Tau, Lyle Foster and Bongokuhle Hlongwane.
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Lyle Lakay and his teammates Khuliso Mudau and Rivaldo Coetzee have been called up for a first time by the Bafana mentor.
Orlando Pirates’ Bandile Shandu also made the selection that also has defender Siyanda Zulu, who is currently unattached after terminating his contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel.
Bafana Bafana will assemble a day before departure and then travel to Paris on Monday, 21 March, where they will pitch camp before travelling to Belgium.
