Krepin Jatta has joined the ranks of multiple-time French Ligue kings AS Monaco.
It followed the completion of a deal and the passing of a medical, bringing an end to a prolonged duration of speculation surrounding the ace’s future.
Club Brugge were surely laughing all the way to the bank –albeit a worthy investment for the French considering the paltry €2M the Belgians parted with in their coffers to acquire the Senegalese from Norway’s Sarpsborg.
A plethora of suitors stood in the way before Monaco won the race for the 21-year-old’s signature.
Krepin’s rise has been a surprised-filled journey on account he only turned professional three years ago when Sarpsborg0 plucked him off the production line of feeder side Oslo FA Dakar.
Predictably, there were suggestions of interest from teams in the English Premier League. However, Diatta opted for career development over glamour and sees Monaco as the platform for that.
Boasting 15 caps for country and 100 league games, 28 goals, 19 assists with 15 European Champions League games, he brings forth quite an impressive bowl of experience to a Monaco side certainly not devoid of midfield brains too.
‘I am very happy to join AS Monaco and to have the opportunity to progress with such a recognised and ambitious French club whose history is well known to everyone. I can’t wait to discover these new surroundings and to work hard with my new team-mates to give back to the club the trust it has placed in me,’ Krepin told Monaco’s website.
