Ibenge Eager To Guide Berkane To Semis

RS Berkane coach Florent Ibenge knows that Al Masry will demand everything from them when the two teams meet in CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals.

The Oranges stormed the quarter finals of the Africa’s second-tier club competition with an easy win against ASEC Mimosas on the last day of group stages matches, and they were drawn against the 1028 semi-finalists.

Based on form, Berkane will be confident. They have won three games in a row, while Al Masry have won only two of their last five matches in all competitions.

However, Ibenge has a different view and he feels Al Masry are not to be taken lightly.

“It’s a tough game ahead of us. It’s an African Cup quarter-final match. Obviously, we inherited the representative of the Egyptian championship. It will not be an easy match,” says the former AS Vita Club coach.

“When we come out of the group stage as we did in the last minutes, we don’t want to stop there. We want to fight with all our weapons to reach the semi-finals. The goal is to be in the semi-finals,” he added.

Al Masry qualified for CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals after finish second in Group C behind DR Congo’s giants TP Mazembe

Ibenge has been in-charge of Berkane for the past ten months and will be hoping to add his second CAF Confederation Cup medal after winning the 2018 title with AS Vita.

RS Berkane and Al Masry last met in the group stages of 2018 CAF Confederation Cup where the Oranges lost the first leg 1-0 b with the return leg ending in a goalless stalemate.
