Uganda Premier League defending champions Vipers SC will soon be in the market in the search of a new coach after reports emerged that Mexican Javier Martinez is on his way out of the club, four months into the job.
Last weekend’s one all draw against Express FC prompted the management to summon the technical bench to a meeting in which Martinez indicated he is willing to resign from his position.
The club, however, quelled the reports clarifying that the former Juventus of Nicaragua boss will remain in charge at the Venoms.
A source close to the coach has intimated to Ducor Sports that the Mexican has made up his mind and is set to quit the den soon.
“Martinez has made up his mind and he is set to leave soon. He will be in charge until the midseason break, the source intimated.
Martinez replaced Daurte Miguel Da Costa as Vipers boss in August.
The Venoms will face Sudanese club Al-Merrikh Sporting Club in the preliminary stage of the 2018/19 CAF Champions League.
Vipers will visit Al-Merrikh in the first leg between November 27th-28th, 2018 with the return leg set to be played a week later, between December 4th-5th, 2018.
The victors of the fixture will face either Algerian side CS Constantine or Gamtel from Gambia in the next round of the champions’ league group stage qualifiers.
