Ivorian FA Deny Camara Exit Rumours

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has denied reports that it is planning to sack national team head coach Ibrahim Camara after a disappointing series of results in recent matches.

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has denied reports that it is planning to sack national team head coach Ibrahim Camara after a disappointing series of results in recent matches.

The FIF president Sidy Diallo reportedly spoke to a local journalist and claimed that the Elephants head coach will be relieved of his duties.

However, FIF have denied those reports, indicating that the 53-year-old will not be shown the door.

“The reports are incorrect and malicious, the coach will not be fired and there will be no meeting on Tuesday,” said FIF vice-president Sory Diabate.

Diabate did confirm that there is a meeting next week Saturday, although it is a scheduled FIF Technical meeting.

A source at Ivorian FA had on Friday night informed Ducor Sports that FIF had considered a possible pay-off for Camara.

Camara has only registered a single win against lowly ranked Niger in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and could not listen to anyone on any matter concerning the upcoming back to back fixtures against Madagascar.

The Elephants coach has already gone before a FIF technical committee to explain why the team failed against Ethiopia in their second match of Cameroon 2021 and how he intends to deal with future challenges, starting with the game against the Bareas.

But it now seems he has not done enough to convince FIF to keep him. Ivory Coast’s next AFCON qualifier is in Abidjan on March 23, leaving the association little time to find a replacement.
