Ivory Coast Goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo Joins Futuro Kings

Ivory Coast international goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo has signed for Equatorial Guinea top-flight side Futuro Kings on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Mongomo-based outfit until September 2023.

Gbohouo joins the Equatorial Guinea’s 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup representatives after leaving TP Mazembe following his expiration of his contract.

“We have signed a very experienced player who is keen to win,” a source at Kings told Ducor Sports on phone from Malabo.

Gbohouo has 56 caps for Ivory Coast and has been their first-choice keeper under head coach Patrice Beaumelle.

He made 156 appearances for TP Mazembe in all competitions after joining from Ivorian top-flight side Sewe Sport.

He enjoyed success with the Ravens winning five domestic league titles, Super Coupe du Congo thrice, CAF Champions League once, CAF Confederation Cup twice and CAF Super Cup once.

Gbohouo was part of the Ivory Coast squad that won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

TP Mazembe has already signed a replacement for Gbohouo in Nigeria’s Suleman Shaibu, who was signed alongside Congolese custodian Baggio Siadi Ngusa.
