Ivory Coast Striker Wilfried Zaha Considering International Retirement

Wilfried Zaha is considering retirement from Ivory Coast national team despite being only 28-year-old, Ducor Sports reports.

The Crystal Palace striker suffers with homesickness while on international duty, national team head coach Patrice Beaumelle revealed on Thursday after he failed to include the star in the upcoming crucial 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

“He asked not to come because he becomes home sick at each break,” said Beaumelle. “He wants to reflect on the rest of his international career.”

Zaha first broke on to the international scene for England in two friendlies against Sweden and Scotland in November 2012 and August 2013, respectively.

He chose to represent in November 2018 after at international level after struggling to add to his two England appearances.

He has made 20 international appearances for the Ivory Coast, scoring five times since his debut against Sweden in January 2019.

He has represented Ivory Coast  in two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and is due to take part in 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
