John Banda: UD Songo Set To Extend Loan From Blue Eagles

Mozambique giants UD Songo are finalizing a deal to extend midfielder John Banda’s deal from Blue Eagles for another season.

The Malawian international has been linked with a move from the Blues, but it seems he has had a change of heart and mind.

The 26-year-old still continues to be linked with a move to some of South Africa clubs, with TS Sporting keenly interested.

The former Blue Eagles midfielder joined the Mozambican side on loan until the end of the season in January, but the coronavirus pandemic caused a halt to all football in March, meaning his future with Songo was in doubt.

However, a source at the Malawian Super League side suggests that talks between the two sides are at an advanced stage.

“Banda is a Blue Eagles player,” says the source. “He is on loan to UD Songo.”

“The club is set to extend his loan deal with Songo for another season.”

Blue Eagles will have to decide whether to bring him back to Malawi when he turns 28 next year in October.

The former Chippa United attacked featured in 13 League games for UD Songo last season and contributed five goals.
