Jonathan Kodjia has been in the Championship for only two seasons but he is already capturing attention of many clubs including those in the English Premier League.
With 19 goals to his name for Aston Villa this season, he is currently 5th on the top scorers list and no.1 African on the list followed by DR Congo’s Elias Kachunga, and Britt Assombalonga with 12 and 10 goals respectively.
The Ivorian International made an £11 million move from Bristol City to Aston Villa at the start of the 2016/17 season – a move that Bristol City may have well regretted.
Born in Saint-Denis, France, Kodjia chose to have an international career with Ivory Coast and made his debut on May 20, 2016 and has since scored four goals in nine appearances, for the Elephants.
His Professional career began in 2008 at Stade Reims but kept being loaned for the next six years after which he made a move to SCO Angers on a free transfer and on July 2015, he signed with Championship side Bristol City.
Steve Bruce admitted a few weeks back that he might face a battle to keep his key man over the summer.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]“You can’t deny that but he knows that he is in a big football club and he is well liked by everybody concerned,”[/perfectpullquote]
Bruce said.
“We don’t want to talk about selling, we just want to add to the team. He has been here six or seven months; he’s had a wonderful couple of years.”
The Ivorian striker will have a big decision to make when the big clubs come calling for his services.
