Zambia Super League side Green Eagles have signed Gor Mahia striker Jules Ulimwengu for a free transfer on a two-year deal.
The 23-year-old Burundi international scored eleven goals in 16 appearances in the Kenyan Premier League last season.
Ulimwengu is Eagles’ tenth summer signing and the only international to join the club that finished third in the MTN/FAZ Super League last season.
‘‘GEFC has played CAF Champions League once, CAF Confederation Cup twice and it is therefore very important for you new players to be professional, disciplined and flag carriers. It is imperative to note that you new players have come at a time when the team is aiming at winning the 2022/23 MTN Super League title and qualifying for the CAF Champions League,’’ said Green Eagles chairman Maybin Mundengo.
Other players that were unveiled include goalkeeper Given Kambila from Young Green Eagles FC, defender Dominic Musonda from Trident FC and midfielder Chipo Mugala from Lumwana Radiants FC
The experienced marksman, Ulimwengu, previously played for the likes of Vital’O FC, LLB Sports 4 Africa FC, Sunrise FC and Rayon Sports FC of Rwanda.
At Gor Mahia he became the second Burundian striker in recent history to play for K’Ogalo after his compatriot Francis Mustapha, who left the Kenyan side two seasons ago.
In his previous stint at Rayon, Ulimwengu scored 12 goals in the 2018/19 Azam Rwanda Premier League and inspired the side to their ninth Azam Rwanda Premier League title.
