Kateregga Upbeat Ahead of Ivory Coast Friendly

Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Kateregga says the friendly match against Ivory Coast on Saturday will help the team gauge itself with the best team in the continent.

Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Kateregga says the friendly match against Ivory Coast on Saturday will help the team gauge itself with the best team in the continent.

Cranes, who are currently camping in the United Arab Emirates, will face the Elephants at the Sheikh Zayed Sports City Stadium on Saturday evening in what will be their final Pre-AFCON friendly match before jetting to Egypt.

The Cape Town City ace is already looking forward to the game and says it will help Cranes gauge themselves ahead of the biannual tournament.

“It’s a high ranking game. We are looking forward to the friendly match on Saturday. We want to challenge ourselves with the best. I feel happy and fine in camp with the entire team. We should be ready to hit the ground,” he told FUFA website.

Cranes has been pooled in group A alongside hosts Egypt, Zimbabwe and DRC. Kateregga, however, observes that the real work begins with the game against the Elephants on Saturday.

“We must keep competing for places because every player needs to fight for action. The spirit in the camp is very good. Our AFCON starts with this game against Ivory Coast and it will be a good challenge to us. The coach keeps pushing us to our best levels and we shall deliver to his expectations,” he added.
