KCCA Suspends Two Fans Over Hooliganism

Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC have suspended two fans for their alleged involvement in the fracas that marred the club’s league match against Express FC at StarTimes Stadium in Kampala at the weekend.

Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC have suspended two fans for their alleged involvement in the fracas that marred the club’s league match against Express FC at StarTimes Stadium in Kampala at the weekend.

The two fans, identified in media reports as Nasumwe Julia and Abdulmahid Patanguli, verbally abused referee Mashood Ssali immediately after the match which ended in 1-1 stalemate.

Footage captured by a bystander appears to show the two fans hurling abuses at referee Ssali at the end of the game as they accosted him. It took the intervention of the police to disperse the goons and save him.

“KCCA FC has gathered sufficient evidence that Nasumwe Julia and Abdulmahid Patanguli misbehaved during the post KCCA FC v Express match. It was found that the two attacked Mashood Ssali the centre referee and attempted to harm him which is against club values, fans constitution and FUFA regulations,” read part of the club statement.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “Nasumwe and Abdulmahid are hereby suspended for the next three KCCA FC home games. They are also supposed to write an apology to the fans’ committee.   [/perfectpullquote]

“The culprits are further warned against similar offences which could lead to an indefinite suspension from all club activities.

“On the same note, all KCCA fans are warned about any unsportsmanlike behaviour either at home or away games.”

KCCA were leading courtesy of Mustapha Kiiza’s goal from the spot in the 28th minute after Sadat Anaku was bundled in the area by Isa Lumu. But his goal was cancelled out by Frank Kalanda, also from the penalty spot.

In the build-up to the penalty awarded to Express, the assistant referee signalled for an offside, but the referee overruled him and sent Ramadhan to an early shower before awarding a penalty to the Red Eagles.

It was more misery for KCCA as first-choice goalkeeper Charles Lukwago had to be stretchered off the pitch after picking up an injury during that moment of madness.
