Kenya is Improving, Says Wanyama

Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama opines that the national team is improving with each passing game.

Stars, under Frenchman Sebastien Migne, will be making a return to the African Cup of Nations this year after a 15-year absence.

The team is currently in France for pre-AFCON preparations and on Friday evening, they played Madagascar in a friendly match in Paris, a game they registered a 1-0 win.

Wanyama scored the all-important goal from the penalty spot after a Malagasy defender handled the ball inside the penalty area.

In an interview Wanyama noted improvement in the team noting that more friendly games will help develop the team further.

“It’s important to start this way as it gives the players morale and having friendly matches is the only way to improve. The team is getting better every day, all the players are willing to learn and we also have to learn from the mistakes we committed in the match. The room to learn is still there, especially for the young players,” the Tottenham man stated.

Stars was the second best team against Madagascar drawing criticism from stakeholders but Wanyama believes the team did well. He however admits the team took long to settle in the game.

“In the first half, we were on the back foot but we kept going, pushed and finally we grew into the game. Everyone performed well and gave their best for the team. It is always important to have friendlies like this one and get on a good run and you know when you win in games like this one it gives you the confidence to prepare for the next one,” he added.

Harambee Stars will play DR Congo in another friendly game on 15th June in Madrid, Spain.
