Kenya has named a national rugby Sevens squad of 12 players for the upcoming Africa 7s tournament set to be held in Monatsir, Tunisia from 13-14 October, 2018.
Familiar faces make up the core of the Shujaa team but the outgoing coach Innocent Simiyu has also added a youthful touch to the squad with a number of players set to debut for the national team at the continental tournament.
KCB top scorer Daniel Taabu, speedster Alvin Otieno and Cyprian Kuto who have been in the squad set up in the past are part of the traveling delegation.
Eliakim Kichoi, Derrick Keyoga, Benjamin Marshall and Gramwell Bunyasi will make their maiden appearance for Shujaa on international duty this weekend.
Shujaa, who are seeded top at the two-day tournament, make a return to the continental showpiece after a one-year absence having missed out on last year’s edition held in Kampala, Uganda.
They will open their campaign against Botswana on Saturday at Stadium of Jemmel.
At the end of the pool matches, the first two teams per pool will have qualified for the Cup Quarterfinals while the last two will battle it out in the Challenge Trophy (Rank 9 to 12).
