Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa has revealed that they turned down an opportunity to play Tunisia in a Pre-AFCON friendly match.

Kenya will be making a comeback to the biannual tournament in Egypt after a 15-year absence.

The team, under the leadership of coach Sebastian Migne, will pitch camp in France where make their preparations ahead of the tournament.

Mwendwa has disclosed that the 2004 AFCON champions had requested for a friendly match but Kenya differed with them on the date of the match and as such the friendly had to be canceled.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]”Tunisia wanted us to play them in Tunis on June 17 but the coach proposed only two friendly matches that must be played on June 7 and 15 so that he can maximize the two days to assess his players before naming the final 23,”[/perfectpullquote]

he said.

Kenya will now face Madagascar and Gambia in friendly matches before Migne names his final 23.

” We are in the processing of finalizing contracts with the two nations we plan to play, possibly Madagascar and Gambia,” he added.
