Kenya midfielder Johanna Omolo has extended his contract with Belgian club Cercle Brugge for another season.

Kenyan midfielder Johanna Omolo has extended his contract with Belgian club Cercle Brugge for another season.

The 31-year-old has been with the club since 2017, joining from another Belgian side Royal Antwerp.

“Johanna Omolo has signed a new contract. The Kenyan international has signed a new one-season deal and is entering his fourth football year at Cercle,” the club said in a statement.

The former Coast Stars, Vise, Fola Esch, Beerschot and Lommel United player has managed to play 59 games for Brugge in four seasons.

Omolo, who is capped 19 times for the national team Harambee Stars, featured in 12 matches for the club in the 2019-20 campaign.

The former Dandora Youth defensive midfielder scored the lone goal for Kenya as they battled to 1-1 draw against Togo in a 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played at Kasarani Stadium.

Omollo was part of Harambee Stars squad that played in the last edition of Nations Cup and scored one of the goals in group matches against Tanzania.

Cercle Brugge is a team owned by French giants AS Monaco-who use the club to help with youth development since the beginning of 2017.

They host their home games at the 30,000-seater Jan Breydel Stadium which they share with fierce rivals Club Brugge who play in the top tier.
