Ghana Premier League returnees King Faisal have vehemently refuted reports that they have parted ways with coach Antony Commey.
There has been rumours and media reports that King Faisal have wielded the axe on the clubs’ technical bench headed by Commey after failing to pick a single point in their two games in the 2019/20 season.
The club has now rubbished the allegations, which also had that Serbian coach Slaviša Božičić was on the verge of taking over the side, terming them untrue and meant to destabilize the club.
“The management of King Faisal FC would want to inform the general public that Head Coach Anthony Commey has not been sacked by the club as is being reported by the media and on various social media platforms,” reads a statement posted on the club social media pages.
“The club is, therefore, appealing to its followers to disregard this report and treat it with the contempt it deserves.”
The 41-year-old Commey was appointed on December 26, 2019 as Faisal head coach after the approval of Ghana Football Association, taking over from Alhaji Adamu.
“The coach has the backing of the management and they will continue to support him as he endeavour to turn the fortunes of the club,” the statement adds.
“The club is calling on the fans to remain calm as the team focuses on our next game against Aduana Stars this weekend.”
A section of Ghanaian media on Monday morning was awash with reports that Bozivic had taken up the coaching role and was expected to be unveiled to the supporters in coming days.
The Serbian coach was said to be the one who will be in the dugout when the Insha Allah boys travel to Dormaa in the match-day three to play current champions Aduana Stars.
