Newly appointed Liberia coach Peter Butler has named his list of invited foreign-based players for the Lone Stars training camp in readiness for upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifier against Sierra Lione.
Missing in the list is South Africa-based attacker Antony Laffor who is out nursing injury. However, there is room for Sweden-born midfielder Seth Kanteh Hellberg and Newcastle United under-23 midfielder Mohammed Sangare.
Captain William Jebor, who recently moved to the United Arab Emirates, has been included same as Belarus-based defender Eugene Swen, who last featured in the 1-0 friendly defeat to Ivory Coast in March.
Butler will name the local-based players after LPRC Oilers and LISCR FC’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup second leg ties this weekend.
The Englishman was named as Lone Stars coach on Wednesday and signed a one year contract with an option to extend based on performance.
Liberia will take on Sierra Leone on 4 September outside Monrovia with the return leg in Freetown on 8 September.
The Lone Stars will begin their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in October with a two-legged preliminary round tie against Chad.
Should they advance, they go into a group with Mali, Guinea and Namibia for a place at the finals.
