Lee Clark Appointed El Merreikh Head Coach After Nasreddine Nabi Sack

Sudan Premier League giants El Merreikh sacked Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi few hours after they battled to a 0-0 draw with Simba SC in a African Champions League fixture on Saturday.

The Red Castle management wasted no time in appointing the replacement of Nabi.

According to a reliable source in Khartoum, El Merreikh have appointed former Blackpool coach Lee Robert Clark as their new manager with the announcement expected to be made soon.

“Lee Clark is the new El Merreikh head coach after Nasreddine Nabi sack, confirmed. Announcement expected soon. The agreement has been reached and here-we-go,” the source told Ducor Sports.

Clark parted ways with National League North side Blyth Spartans in March 2020 after one season with the club, where he won just six of his 32 league games.

In his previous job, Clark was sacked by Bury after a run of just two wins in 15 games.

Clark, who managed the Seasiders from 2014 to 2015, resigned after the club’s relegation from the Championship.

He has also managed Huddersfield Town, Birmingham City and Kilmarnock.

Clark takes over a club bottom of the Group A of African Champions League, as they have accumulated only a single point in their three matches.
