Leeds United Reportedly Considering A Move For Mbaye Diagne

Leeds United has reportedly decided to enter the race to sign for Galatasaray striker Mbaye Diagne, who is currently on-loan at Club Brugge.

The 28-year-old left Turk Telekom Stadium in August on a season-long loan, and the Senegalese star managed to net four goals in six outings during his time in Belgium.

A number of clubs in England are said to be keen on the player, but according to Takvim, Leeds are monitoring his situation.

The Peacocks boss Marcelo Bielsa allegedly has £8 million war chest at his disposal, but the former Lille manager may jump at the chance to sign Diagne with less transfer fee involved.

Diagne has no experience in English football but has played twice in this season’s Champions League, making substitute appearances against PSG and his parent club.

His agent has indicated that Diagne would be interested in joining Leeds, but the Galatasaray president Mustafa Cengiz has suggested that they are going to recall the striker.

Diagne started his career in the lower leagues of Italy and, after prolific spells at both Brandizzo and AC Bra, sealed a huge move to Juventus in 2013, according to Talk Sport.

He was shipped out on loan in September of that year though, joining French side Ajaccio, managed by Conte’s former club and international team-mate Fabrizio Ravanelli.

He returned to Turin at the start of 2014, with his next step being a loan move to Belgian side Lierse.

He impressed during his brief spell in the Pro League, notching seven goals in 11 appearances.

Further loan stints in Saudi Arabia, Belgium and Hungary followed before Chinese side Tianjin TEDA signed him from Juventus in January 2016.

The striker then made the switch back to Europe in 2019vwhen Kasimpasa came calling for his services before being signed by Galatasaray.
