Chippa United has officially confirmed the appointment of Lehlohonolo Simon Seema as the new head coach of the club.
He has signed a three-year deal with the Chili Boys hours after leaving the same position at another South Africa Premier Soccer League side Bloemfontein Celtic.
Seema replaces Rhulani Mokwena who left the club after the lapse of his loan deal from Orlando Pirates.
“Chippa United FC hereby confirms that the team has with immediate effect appointed Lehlohonolo Simon Seema as its head coach on a three-year contract,” read a club statement.
“Coach Seema joins the Chilli Boys from Bloemfontein Celtic, where he put in notable performances and his abilities as a coach at the highest level were evident.
“Chairman of the club, Mr. Siviwe Mpengesi, expressed his support for Coach Seema and expressed his confidence in a winning combination between the coach and the ambitions of Chippa United FC during his tenure.”
Seema had been the coach Bloemfontein Celtic for seven years between 2013 and 2020.
During that period, he worked in different capacities including performing the role of assistant coach and caretaker coach before being appointed permanently as head coach in 2019.
Seema left Celtic at ninth position on the PSL standings with 28 points from 23 league matches and in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
He will be the sixth person to sit in the dug-out for Chippa this season in what has been another turbulent campaign for coaches at the 12th placed outfit.
