English Premier League champions have signed Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndindi from Belgium side Genk on a five year deal.
The 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder has agreed to personal terms with the foxes and signed a contract until 2022 but is still subject to a work permit.
The foxes have been a shadow of their former selves ever since the departure of their prized ball winning midfielder Ngolo Kante but Ndindi seems like the perfect replacement.
Ndindi plays with the same intensity, has excellent stamina, a good eye for long passes and super “killer” tackles. He has made more tackles and interceptions than any other player in Europa this season and has been on radars of most big European teams.
Ndindi started playing football with the Nathaniel boys of Nigeria before signing for Belgian side Genk after impressing in an open trio back home. He debuted for Genk as a central defender but was later molded into a Defensive midfielder.
He represented Nigeria at Under-17 and Under-20 level and just recently earned his first senior call-up in October 2015.
Ndindi will be joining his international team-mate, Ahmed Musa and both will be available this January since they didn’t qualify for African Cup of Nations. He is also available for selection in the Champions league later this month since his former club played in Europa.
Ndidi has already undergone a medical at Leicester and it is hoped that he will complete his move to the King Power Stadium later this week. He will wear shirt no. 25 and is Leicester’s first signing in this transfer window as they try to bolster their options in the midfield.
