The Lone Stars of Liberia have arrived in Cairo ahead of an international friendly against Egypt at Borg El Arab Stadium on Thursday.
The Peter Butler’s coached side arrived on Wednesday morning aboard a flight from Monrovia and went straight to Tolip Family Club Borg El Arab Hotel.
Butler had named his 20-man squad for the match with LPRC Oilers goalkeeper Alpha Eshaka Jalloh, LISCR striker Joseph Melto Quiah and Monrovia Breweries’ Teah Baysah Dennis being in the list.
Liberia are set to have a quick recovery session at Borg El Arab Stadium and will hold their official training session at the match venue later under floodlights.
Egypt’s new coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to field local-based players with Pyramids FC’s Ibrahim Adel, Mohand Lashin of El-Gaish, and Pharco FC keeper Mohamed Sobhi set to make their debut.
Mohamed El-Shennawy, Mahmoud El-Wensh, Ayman Ashraf, Amr El-Sulya, Tarek Hamed, Abdellah El-Said, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Ramadan Sobhi, and Mohamed Sherif are some of experienced regulars in the Pharaohs squad.
Liberia will use the match against the Pharaohs to o test out players with limited game time ahead of their back-to-back 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde.
Liberia have already played two matches, managing to secure a 1-0 win over Central African Republic which came after a 2-0 loss in the hands of Nigeria
