Liberia: Coach Keita Calls up 25 Local Players Ahead of South Africa’s Game

Ansu Keita, the newly appointed head coach of Liberia’s senior men’s national football team, has called up 25 local-based players to start prepping for the two-game series against South Africa in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers that will take place next month.

Liberia are due to host South Africa before traveling away for the return leg in South Africa. The eligibility of the SKD sports stadium to host the first leg in Liberia is still uncertain.

In a statement issued by the Liberia Football Association, Keita stated that the training is a component of his plan to get ready for the South Africans’ back-to-back qualifiers in March.

According to him, the list could change at any time depending on how the players perform during the training period.

Keita was hired on a two-year contract with the mandate of developing a young national team that would be eligible to compete in the 2025 AFCON, 2023 AFCON, and 2025 AFCON.
