Freeport FC on Wednesday, July 7, unveiled their new team bus via their official social media handles.
Valued at US$15K, the 25-seaterHyundai County bus was acquired during the closing of the 2020/21 league season.
The bus will serve as the club’s main source of transport for the upcoming league season that is expected to kick-off in October of this year.
Transportation of teams to honor away fixtures has one of the many challenges experienced by clubs in various leagues of the Liberia Football Association (LFA).
LFA in October of 2020 purchased and shipped two 35-seater buses from the FIFA women’s development fund to help alleviate and minimize the expenses clubs presidents go through to transport their teams to match venues.
Designed by Hyundai Motor Company Design Center, the new 25-seater minibus has been branded with the club’s iconic green and white colors, with anenormous white“FREEPORT FOOTBALL CLUB” written on both left and right sides, along with the club’s motto: “Work Hard, Play Hard” written below the club’s name on both sides of the bus.
The front of the bus was customized by the club’s slogan “Go Green”, accompanied by club’s logo on both ends of the slogan.
Similar design was done at the back, with the back windshield, colored silver, featuring the club’s kit sponsor, Saksouk Shopping Center.
Both Freeport FC and Saksouk Shopping Center signed a three-season kit sponsorship deal in September 2020, valued at US$7,500.Saksouk provides LD$ 500,000 (US$2,500.00) per season in accordance with deal, while Freeport FC advertise the shopping center’s trademarks on their team Jerseys.
Established in 2011, Freeport FC is one of few clubs in the Liberian top tier league that continue to improve their brand of recent. The club for the first time in May of this year created a partnership with a jersey supplier to produce replicas for their fans.
Freeport ended the 2020/21 league season-their debut season in the first division league-at the 7th position with 30 points from 22 games (8 wins, 6 Draws, and 8 defeats).
