The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has suspended, with immediate effect, FIFA-badged referee Hassan Corneh (second from left in the cover image) for a month from all refereeing activities.
According to a release from the LFA, the referee’s suspension follows a March 18 appeal lodged by second division side Freeport FC in which they questioned the red card shown to Christopher Karpeh during a league match against Muscat FC at the Nancy B. Doe Stadium in Kakata, Margibi County on 16 March.

“We, as a club, will provide the video of the said match for your perusal as evidence once called upon,” the club said.

After a thorough review of the video, LFA referee committee labeled Corneh’s officiating as a “poor performance of a FIFA-badged referee in such a match”.

They then recommended Corneh’s immediate suspension, which was sent to him on 22 March.

The committee also rescinded the red-card with a refund of the L$3,000 payment.

Referee Corneh is one of nine Liberian referees that were approved by FIFA referee committee and eventually commissioned by the LFA to officiate in International football competitions in 2019. He became a FIFA-badged referee in 2017.
