Libya have named Montenegrin manager Zoran Filipovic as the head coach of the senior men’s national team.

The Montenegrin trained comes in as Ali El Margini’s replacement following his resignation in November after two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers losses to Equatorial Guinea.

The length of Filipovic’s contract with Libya will be announced later this month.

The 67-yar-old gaffer will be assisted by Mohamed Al-Kikli, who led Al Nasr to the Total CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals last season.

Flipovic is expected to lead the Mediterranean Knights at the Total African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be held early next year in Cameroon.

His biggest challenge will be the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, where Libya plays in Group F alongside Egypt, Gabon and Angola.

It is the first time he will be taking charge of a national team in Africa, having previously worked with Montenegro and Serbia national teams.

As a player, he was capped by 13 times by the then Yugoslavia as a forward.
