Liverpool bound Naby Keita will miss a chance to say proper goodbye to Leipzig fans after being sent off in the side’s 3-0 away loss to bottom placed Mainz.
The midfielder received marching orders after receiving a second yellow card in extra time which means he will be ineligible to play when his side host Wolfsburg in their final game at the Red Bulls Arena on May 5th.
Keita will join Liverpool this summer but his current disciplinary record has had many Kopites worried after watching the 23-year-old in action.
Prior to Sunday’s game, Keira was sent off a record three times in a space of one month. He was sent off in Leipzig’s 2-2 draw with Borrussia Montengladbach on September 16 just before traveling for International duty.
While in action for Guinea in the World Cup qualifiers, Keita was once again sent off after scoring in the 4-1 loss to Tunisia on September 16. After returning to Germany, one might think that two consecutive red cards would be enough for him to think twice before going in for hard tackles.
But no, the hard hitting midfielder wasn’t ready to change his style of play. He immediately saw another red card in his second game back as Leipzig played Bayern in the Germany Cup two weeks later.
He will have enormous shoes to fill in Liverpool as he’s set to Don Steven Gerald’s Legendary iconic shirt number 8.
However, despite all the hard tackles that sometimes land him in trouble, Keita is a top quality prospect who will definitely help Liverpool mount a formidable title challenge next season.
