Mali FA General Assembly Postponed Indefinitely

The Annual General Meeting of the Mali Football Association (Femafoot) has been postponed indefinitely.

The Annual General Meeting of the Mali Football Association (Femafoot) has been postponed indefinitely.

The gathering was scheduled for May 18 by the normalization committee set up by FIFA to run the country’s football governing body.

But with the latest administrative malfunctions related to the transmission of notices to regional leagues, clubs, and association members, the Dao Fatoumata Guindo led committee decided to call off the AGM pending the finalization of the roadmap that will pave way for Femafoot elections.

“The normalization committee of the Malian Football Federation apologizes to the members of the Femafoot and decides to postpone the General Assembly to comply with the statutory provisions. A new date will be communicated to you later,”reads the communiqué from the normalization committee as translated from French.

FIFA installed the normalization committee on 20 December 2017 with a four-month mission to revise the statutes, conduct elections and manage the daily affairs of Femafoot, but since then, it has extended its mandate twice, with the latest set to end on 31st August.

Mali had previously been banned by FIFA for governmental interference into the running of the country’s football. The ban was lifted when the committee was allowed to begin work.
