Malian Striker Moussa Marega Joins Al Hilal Saudi FC

Sixteen-time Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal Saudi FC have completed the signing of Moussa Marega from Portuguese giants Porto, the club confirmed on Monday, May 10.

The 30-year-old joins Al Hilal on a three-year deal and is set to link up with ex-France international Bafetimbi Gomis, who joined the club two seasons ago.

Marega will arrive officially arrive at the club when his contract with Porto runs out at the end of the season and is expected to earn 15 million euros over three seasons.

“In 1991, I was born in the French city of Les Ulis and in the same year, Al-Hilal won their first continental title,” Marega told the club’s official website.

“These two stories continue to excite and they crossed again in 2020 when Al-Hilal won a hat-trick in Saudi Arabia and I did the same in Portugal.

“And now in 2021, my next destination is Saudi Arabia.”

Marega has played for several sides including Amiens SC, C.S. Marítimo, and Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

He joined the ranks of FC Porto in 2015 has since scored 72 goals and provided 33 assists in 190 appearances for Porto in the six seasons.

The Malian international also helped the club achieve two league titles, one Portuguese Cup, and one Portuguese Super Cup.

He made his debut for Mali in March 2015 in a friendly against Gabon and represented the West African nation at the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
