Mamelodi Sundowns Officially Unveil Abubeker Nassir

Ethiopian striker sensation Abubeker Nassir has been officially unveiled at Mamelodi Sundowns and could play in the next couple of days.

The 22-year-old agreed to sign for South Africa Premier Soccer League giants in January but was loaned to his former club Ethiopian Coffee.

Sundowns confirmed the striker has arrived at the club after having a look at the player and confirmed he is ready to break into the starting line-up at Chloorkop.

“Nassir is here. Masandawana, it’s time to unleash the newest member of our striking department,” the club posted on Twitter.

The striker only received his International Transfer Certificate on Monday, a document that had prevented Sundowns coaches from selecting the star in the season’s opener against Cape Town City Friday.

Nassir arrives at Sundowns having netted a total of 29 goals in 22 games in the Ethiopian Premier League in the 2020/21 season.

He was one of Walia Ibex players at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations where his exploits attracted interest of various South African clubs including Orlando Pirates.
