Mamelodi Sundowns will square off with Al Ahly in the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League encounter on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 15h00 CAT.
The quarter-final second-leg clash will be played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the South African city of Pretoria.
The Brazilians lost 2-0 to the Red Eagles in the first-leg encounter in Cairo last weekend with Taher Mohamed and Salah Mohsen scoring the all-important goals.
Sundowns are aiming to put an impressive display to overrun the huge deficit and seal spot in the semifinal despite the threat posed by the defending champions.
Manqoba Mngqithi’s charges will take confidence from their home form with the 2016 champions having recorded two losses in their last eight home matches in the continental competition.
“Minimising our mistakes, I believe we can get the results that we want, although I know it will be a tall order,” said Sundowns coach Mngqithi.
“We are confident in our group. I was saying yesterday that if anyone has the capacity to come back a winner, it is Sundowns.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly look to avoid a defeat in South Africa in order to book their place in the semi-finals on their road to title defence.
The Red Devils, however, have gone 11 games without winning on South African soil including matches against SuperSport United, Platinum Stars, Bidvest Wits, Orlando Pirates and Sundowns.
But Al Ahly coach, Pitso Mosimane, whom masterminded the famous Red Devil’s 5-0 loss to the Brazilians during his time at Naturena is confident of going past Sundowns.
“Of course you come here with the hope to qualify to the semis. Winning 2-0 in the first leg is a slight advantage but it doesn’t mean that we qualify. Sundowns played a good game. It is time to be focused to deliver the team to the semi-finals. There are no excuses,” said Mosimane.
“I took the responsibility for coaching the club when there were 8 stars and I made a small contribution to add the ninth. I want to add the tenth star to the club’s badge.”
Zambian match official Jimmy Sikazwe will take charge of the clash.
The aggregate winner will face either CR Belouizdad or Esperance de Tunis for a place in the final of Africa’s prestigious club competition.
