Mamelodi Sundowns winger Toni Silva is reportedly tipped for a move to the Egyptian Premier League as he looks to turn down Absa Premier Soccer League offers.

According to South African media reports, the Guinea-Bissau international is on the brink of signing a deal with an unnamed club in Egypt that could see him earn an annual salary of $350,000.

The reports suggested that Silva is on Zamalek’s shopping list along with Mohamed Sadek from Ismaily as well as other players from North Africa.

South African giants Cape Town City and Baroka are also said to be in the race to sign the 25-year-old.

Asked to give an update on Silva’s future this morning, Godwin Emmanuel, his agent, reiterated his stance from earlier in the week. “Just wait, there will be something by end of this week. We will be revealing where he is going,” he said.

Silva joined the Brazilians at the start of the new season and was seen as a possible replacement for Khama Billiat, who left the defending Absa Premiership champions to join Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

He has made 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. He last featured for Downs in an Absa Premiership match against Baroka FC in November.

Born in Bissau, Silva later moved with his parents to Portugal and played for Navigators’ under-17 and U-18 squads.

The former CSKA Sofia, Levadiakos, Liverpool attacker, later switched his nationally to Guinea-Bissau and made debut in a 3-2 victory over Zambia in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in 2016.
