Man Arrested Over Didier Drogba Slur

An Ivorian man was arrested on Wednesday evening over alleged abusive remarks on former Chelsea star Didier Drogba, according to local media.

Zougrana Inoussa is accused of using abusive and demeaning language against the ex-Ivorian international, the Ivoriesoir portal reports.

He is set to appear in court on Friday to answer charges of insults uttered against Drodga and his mother.

A video clip of the Inoussa utterances, made on the night before Ivorian FA elections where Drogba stood as a candidate, has circulated widely on social media.

But Inoussa went to the social media saying he had nothing to apologise about what he said.

“I will not apologize to anyone because I called nobody’s name during my  address,” he said in a Facebook post.

Inoussa was a campaign manager for former FIF vice-president Sory Diabaté in the recently concluded Ivorian FA elections that were won by Yacine Idriss Dialo.

Drogba, the Ivory Coast’s all-time top scorer, was ousted in the first round of voting with just under a fifth of the vote.

His achievements and ambitious programme for the development of football in Ivory Coast had raised his popularity, and after his defeat many of his supporters expressed their anger on social media.
