Maritzburg goalkeeper Richard Ofori is on verge of completing a move to Orlando Pirates, Ducor Sports can reveal.
The Buccaneers made a little secret of their desire to prise the towering goal minder away from the Team of Choice since the conclusion of the season, although Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia had stated, on several occasions, that his side would do their utmost to retain the body of their squad.
However, Ofori’s will appeared to have got the better of the Soweto outfit and a source close to the goalkeeper has confirmed that matters are progressing quickly with regards to a move.
“We’re not very far from an agreement,” the source told Ducor Sports.

There will almost certainly be some jostling over the transfer fee but various sources indicate that the parties could come into agreement around the $750,000 mark.
Ofori established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in South Africa last season and his exploits are said to have also caught the attention of Mamelodi Sundowns and an unnamed Belgian side.
The 26-year-old joined the KwaZulu-Natal side from Wa All Stars in 2017 before the club exercised their one-year option in April where they extended his stay until June 2021.
The Ghana international previously stated that he was happy to have attracted interest from the big teams as that proved that his hard work has been noticed.
Ofori was part of United’s best season in 2017-18 with a first cup final in the modern era in the Nedbank Cup and fourth-placed South Africa Premier Soccer League finish under Fadlu Davids.
