Rwanda Premier League side AS Kigali is on the verge of losing six key senior players.
Ducor Sports has established that the six are no longer interested in playing for ASK and intend to leave the club at the end of this season.
The six, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of being victimized, said their decision would not change even if ASK management pays them three-months salaries and match bonus arrears owed since January.
The players said they were fed up with AS Kigali repeatedly failing to meet its financial obligations to the squad members and it was better for them to look for greener pastures.
“It is painful the kind of suffering we have been subjected to. We have not been paid for three months. The last salary we received was in January. What pains us most is seeing club officials bluntly lying in the media that they have settled some of the amounts,” said one of the players.
“The last time they paid us part of our winning bonuses was before January. The rest of the balance is yet to be settled.”
Rwanda Premier League was temporally suspended on March 15 due to coronavirus outbreak, with some clubs rumoured to have suspended salaries of their players.
Over the past one and half months players from clubs such as Rayon Sports, and Marines have been complaining about unpaid salaries and allowances, and a lack of communication from their clubs on the matter.
