Masters Security May Be Disbanded

Malawi Super League side Masters Security will be a thing of the past if the owner Alfred Gangata makes good of his threat and disband the team.

Malawi Super League side Masters Security will be a thing of the past if the owner Alfred Gangata makes good of his threat to disband the team.

The former Carlsberg Cup champions have struggled to cope with the big boys in the TNM sponsored league with Gangata blaming the players for poor performance.

Speaking during a football show program on Zodiak Broadcasting Station, the club owner says he might be forced to take the action if things do not improve in the near future.

“I have tried my part so that they can play football but it has not worked…They are ungrateful, they are inhumane, they think they are the best,” Gangata said.

However, several players whose identity cannot be revealed by Ducor Sports had earlier complained of not being paid their salaries since February.

“Some of us have not received salaries since May. Motivation is very low and some players are not attending practice sessions,” one of the players lamented.

Gangata was not available for comment, but sources indicate that he will be giving some money at the end of November.

The Migwanya have been struggling financially and they were recently fined K1.5 million for failing to fulfil their league fixture against Mzuni FC.

Masters Security, currently bottom of the Malawi Super League table with 17 points from 25 points, play Blue Eagles on Wednesday 27 November 2019 at Nankhaha Stadium.
