The West Africans endured an outing to forget in the previous edition of the continental showpiece consequently causing the Lions’ coach axing.

The erstwhile French colony have taken a sort of a sabbatical in an attempt at self-assessment in the wake of their failures.

However, the 32-year-old ace insists a great future is on the cusp of unfolding for Senegal if regard is given to players.

We have to rethink many things in the management of basketball for us to go for titles,” he told the Record.

“Sometimes people don’t know all the sacrifices that players make to come to the selection. Our employers respect us more than our own nation.

“We have to be above and anticipate on many things. Senegal must regain its lustre of yesteryear by being the first African nation in basketball. We have the means to do it, but we have to organize ourselves to represent the national colours with dignity,” he said.

Mbodj has had quite a career starring in the basketball leagues of as far as in Latvia and Poland.

He is currently tied down to Pau-based French Basketball outfit Elan in the Pro French Champions League.
