Meddie Kagere Eyes Possible Move To Top Spanish Club

Rwandese striker Meddie Kagere has been linked a transfer move away from Tanzania Premier League champions Simba SC.

Rwandese striker Meddie Kagere has been linked to a transfer move away from Tanzania Premier League champions Simba SC.

According to several Dar es Salaam media outlets, the former Gor Mahia marksman is set to sign for Levante UD in the Spanish La Liga.

Levante are said to have been keenly following the 33-year-old striker for the past ten months and now have shown interest in acquiring his services.

However, there is also talk that the Amavubi striker is on the radar of Albanian outfit KF Skenderbeu Korce.

According to reliable sources, Levante’s transfer fee could be a sticking point for him switching to Europe, with the club set to give him a two-year contract.

“Levante UD have been following Meddie Kagere since they watched him play against Sevilla when they visited Tanzania to play against Simba SC in a friendly,” said the source.

“They have also followed his records while playing in Rwanda and for Gor Mahia in Kenya and are impressed with his scoring record and are happy he is a good player.”

Kagere is currently the Tanzania Premier League’s leading contender for the golden boot having netted 19 goals topping the goal-scoring chart with 11 matches to go.

He moved to Tanzania in 2018 after helping Gor Mahia win clinch two titles, and is said to be earning a monthly salary of $ 4,500 at Simba.

Kagere has also played for Atraco FC, Kiyovu Sports, Mukura Victory, Police FC, Rayon Sports in his home country, and KF Tirana of Albania.

The striker was a major cog in the Simba team that made it to the quarterfinals of the African Champions League two seasons ago.
