Ghana Premier League side Medeama Sporting Club have denied acquiring the services of former Asante Kotoko striker Sognè Yacouba.
Medeama were reported to have signed the Burkina Faso international but have denied having acquired the attacker.
Yacouba was earlier on heavily linked with a possible move to Zambian giants Zesco United but it emerged that the 2015 Ghana Super Cup champions had beaten the moneybags to the forwards signature.
However, Medeama’s chief executive officer, James Essilfie, refuted the claims. He, however, confirmed that they are in negotiations with several players recommended by the technical bench and are expected to reveal their identities before the closure of transfer window.
Reports had emerged on Thursday with Sportsnetgh.com indicating that the 28-year-old Yacouba had put pen to paper for a two-year deal after agreeing to take home GHc5,000.00 every month.
”I’ve seen such stories but I’ve not seen the player ever since we played against them in the league,” Essilfie told OTEC FM.
”I’ve seen the stories but we have not signed him [Yacouba], although talks are ongoing.
“It’s not just Medeama [in negotiations with him], other clubs are also talking to him.”
Yacouba has been clubless since parting ways with the Porcupine Warriors at the end of his contract earlier this month.
On various occasions, the striker came under several transfer controversies with Asante Kotoko.
Reports of his handlers talking with top African leagues including Orlando Pirates, Al Hilal and Nkana FC have graced various newspapers headlines across Ghana in recent months.
