Uganda national team head coach Multin Micho Sredojevic on Sunday named a 33-man preliminary Cranes squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.
The East African nation will be up against Algeria and Niger, playing twice in four days.
They first take on Morocco at Oran Olympic Stadium on 4 June and then host Niger at the St Marys Stadium four days later on 8 June.
Cincinnati’s defender Ramadhan Musa and Proline FC’s Kiwanuka Hakim were the surprise inclusions in the squad.
Faruku Miya , who plays for Ukraine side Lviv, has also been included in the group, despite not being active for the past three months due to war in the eastern Eruope nation.
Onduparaka’s Mohamed Shaban was named among seven forwards expected to help Uganda qualify for Afcon after missing the last edition that was held in Cameroon.
Vipers midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga was also recalled to join the national team once more.
The Cranes were draw in Group F alongside Algeria, Niger and Tanzania in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 group stage qualifiers.
