Uganda Coach Picks Positives From The Draw With Ethiopia

Uganda national team head coach Multin Micho Sredojevic believes draw for his side in Sunday’s international friendly against Ethiopia is a step in the right direction.

The Serbian gaffer feels a goalless stalemate is good for his side especially that there were coming from a loss against the same side in their first encounter.

He also explained that his boys learnt a lot of lessons from the result and that they will work on the weaknesses before playing against Tanzania in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

“We have played against a very strong side and there are many positives to pick from today’s match. We now have the next days to polish a few aspects ahead of the game against Tanzania,” Micho told FUFA website.

The home-based Cranes will face Tanzania on August 28 in Dar es Salaam and the two teams will face off in the return leg on September 3 at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

On the other hand Ethiopia, who were using the match as part of preparations of  upcoming CHAN fixture, will face Rwanda.

So far Rwand a have not played any preparatory match and they only named their final squad that will face Ethiopia on Sunday.

The first leg of the encounter will be played on August 26 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, before they host the decisive encounter on September 3, at Huye Stadium.

Ethiopia will host their home match in Tanzania after CAF ruled that the continent’s second populous country has no eligible stadium for international matches.

The aggregate winners from both matches will qualify for the final tournament slated for January next year in Algeria.
