South Africa Premier Soccer League giants are in the hunt for a new coach after Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic resigned from the club after two seasons in charge.

South Africa Premier Soccer League giants are in the hunt for a new coach after Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic resigned from the club after two seasons in charge.

The Buccaneers made the news of Micho resignation public on Friday night on their social media channels, bringing an end to speculations over his future.

This happened just days after the Soweto giants suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Supersport United on Wednesday evening.

Before his departure, Micho sent an emotional message to the club’s fans, once again showing he was attached to the club.

“Dear supporters, spiritual owners of Orlando Pirates, this institution… I would like to use this opportunity and occasion to whole-heartedly appreciate those over 740 days that we have spent together, ” the 49-year-old said.

“I want to thank personally Dr Irvin Khoza, our chairman, who has brought me to this club for the second time.”

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “Due to the challenges that I am personally facing, I am leaving this position, but in the same moment, I will look forward for the challenges that, once I’m settled, are coming ahead of me.”   [/perfectpullquote]

“I really value and appreciate each moment spent with you. And as we always say, once and always…”

Micho’s departure comes as a big blow to the club, which arguably grew under the Serbian’s guidance.

Throughout his 80 games in charge of the Amabhakabhaka, he managed to win 38 games while drawing 26 and losing just 16.

Rhulani Mokwena will take over coaching duties, starting with Saturday’s MTN8 encounter against Highlands Park. He will be assisted by Fadlu Davids and Franck Plaine.
