Middlesbrough are said to be on the verge of signing Harold Moukoudi on a permanent transfer, according to Yorkshire Post.
The 22-year-old has been impressive since signing on a loan deal that extends till May 31 from French top-flight side Saint-Etienne.
But now, according to Post, Moukoudi is likely to make his stay in England permanent, something he had wished three months earlier.
Middlesbrough coach Jonathan Woodgate had also expressed his desire to sign the Cameroon international together with Patrick Roberts in a permanent deal.
“We don’t know how things are going to work out, but I’d love to sign them, I’m a big fan of them both,” he said.
The French-born defender had revealed that he’s open to a permanent transfer to Skybet Championship side despite coach Claude Puel stating that no on-loan players will be offered a permanent contract.
The former US Nogent academy graduate said that he was enjoying his football in England and paid his tribute to the club’s fans.
Moukoudi began his career with Le Havre where he made 63 appearances and scored six goals for the Normandy-based side, and was a regular feature at the back for them.
The former French youth international signed for Saint Etienne last summer, and played at the Riverside against Boro in pre-season in a 1-1 draw.
Moukoudi had played seven times for Boro before the suspension of the league due to coronavirus epidemic.
