Milovan Rajevac In Negotiations To Be The New Ghana Coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to unveil Croatian Milovan Rajevac as the new national team head coach.

This will go against a popular belief that Saudi Arabia national team head coach Herve Renard is the right man for the job.

For almost 48-hours, GFA has been trying to appoint CK Akonnor’s replacement since his contract was terminated on the 13th of September.

Over 50 coaches had applied for the vacant position with four notable European coaches having forwarded their CV’s.The coaches are Italian Francesco Guidolin, former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre, longtime Pep Guardiola assistant Domènec Torrent and Frenchman Alain Giresse who has vast working experience in Africa

However, GFA has settled on Rajavec who led Ghana to the quarter final of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa where they bowed to Uruguay.

He left the job after refusing an extended contract and went to a club Saudi Arabia, before taking over as Qatar national team coach

Rajavec will be bringing his own staff, including a German assistant coach and a Finnish physical trainer. He has also shared the list of players he wants be called for the upcoming World Cup back-to-back  qualifiers Zimbabwe.

The Serbian’s last job was in Thailand, whose national team he coached in 2019.He has also coached clubs in Saudi Arabia (Al Ahli, 2010-2011) and Slovenia (Rudar, 2016), as well as the Qatar  national team (2011).
