Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has signed a four-year deal with English Premier League side Southampton.

The 21-year-old centre-back joins the Saints from Real Valladolid, where he spent two seasons.

According to the Daily Mail, Salisu will arrive at St. Mary after spending 14 days in quarantine due to coronavirus travel restrictions in place.

The African Talent Football Academy graduate was heavily linked to English Premier League sides-  Manchester United, Everton, West Ham United and French club Rennes.

Salisu made his professional debut in 2018/2019 season, but was regular for Sergio Gonzalez’s team last season, making 31 appearances for the Spanish La Liga outfit.

In Ghana, the youngster played for Kumasi Barcelona Babies now known as Corners Babies and trained with Ghana Premier League side, West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) for two years.

The left-footed star is yet to be capped by Ghana though he earned his maiden invitation for a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in November.

He withdrew from the squad citing an injury before being shockingly left out of a 23-man roster for a Nations Cup qualifying clash with Sudan in March this year.
