Molefi Nteski Appointed As Full-Time Bafana Bafana Coach

The South Africa Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed the appointment of Molefi Nteski as the new Bafana Bafana head coach.

The South Africa Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed the appointment of Molefi Nteski as new Bafana Bafana head coach.

Nteski was initially appointed coach on an interim basis following Stuart Baxter’s departure three weeks ago.

He worked with Baxter for two years as his assistant while he also assisted Shakes Mashaba alongside Owen Da Gama and Thabo Senong in the past

The decision to hand him the job on a full-time basis was made by the SAFA national executive committee (NEC) on Saturday afternoon.

In his first address to the media, Nteski said he was excited at the new challenge and would give it his best.

“I want to, first of all, thank the SAFA NEC and the Technical Committee for the confidence they have shown in me. I am humbled by this honour and I want to assure the nation that I will give this the best go,” he said.

Nteski has been coaching the SAFA U17’s and has 21 years of experience in the game and will be hoping that will hold him in good stead as he plots Bafana’s path to success.

His first official assignment is the friendly match against Zambia at Lusaka’s Independence Heroes Stadium on Saturday, 7 September. Kick-off is at 15h00.

Bafana Bafana go into camp on Sunday, 1 September 2019 in Johannesburg and leave for Zambia on Thursday for Saturday’s friendly match.
